Community Comes Together to Clean Up Kasese Town Ahead Of World Tourism Day
In preparation for World Tourism Day which shall be celebrated on 27th September 2024, various organizations, government agencies, and individuals today 24 September 2024 joined forces to clean up Kasese Town. This collective effort demonstrates the community's commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment. This year's celebration shall be on theme " Tourism and Peace"
"We need to keep Kasese Town clean because we have visitors in the area. We must cherish our town," says Jovia Mbambu, Kasese Tourism Officer.
The community is working together to ensure a successful event, with the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, assuring that the police are committed to ensuring a peaceful commemoration of World Tourism Day activities.
Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Minister of Tourism and Environment, Muhindo Julius, is calling on the community to conserve nature by planting more trees and adding beauty to Mt. Rwenzori.
Additionally, the Kasese Sports Club also participated in the cleaning activity, with Ayinebwona Amon, the chief executive officer, promising to continue ensuring a clean and safe environment.
Sarah Ithungu Baleke, an aspiring woman member of Parliament, known as the "mountain girl," is encouraging the community to make the most of these events to earn money and promote local economic development.
The cleaning activity is a great example of community spirit and a step towards promoting sustainable tourism in Kasese Town.
