Operation Shujaa Joint Forces Rescue 40 Recovers 9 Guns - DRC
"In a daring operation, our joint forces have dealt a significant blow to the ADF, rescuing 40 innocent lives and shattering their grip on our communities," said Major Bilal Katamba, UPDF Mountain Division and Operation Shujaa. "We will continue to pursue the terrorists and bring them to justice."
The joint forces of the Ugandan People's Defence Forces (UPDF) and the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (FARDC) have successfully rescued 40 people, mostly women and children, from the clutches of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) terrorists in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo.
"We are thrilled to have been able to rescue these innocent people and bring them to safety," said Major Katamba. "We will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that our communities are safe and that those responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to justice."
The rescue mission, code-named "Operation Shujaa," was conducted in the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo and involved fierce fighting with the ADF. The joint forces were able to recover several weapons and items from the ADF, including guns, walkie-talkies, and human drugs.
"This is a significant blow to the ADF and a major victory for our communities," said Major Katamba. "We will continue to work together to ensure that our communities are safe and that those responsible for these heinous crimes are brought to justice."
The rescued individuals are receiving medical attention, and the joint forces are still on the hunt for terrorists linked to ISIS and affiliated with the Islamic State of Central Africa Province (ISCAP).
