The project, which is a collaboration between the government, universities, and industries, is expected to create new opportunities for local farmers and communities.

Hon. Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku, the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance and other Project Officers

According to Hon. Kabbyanga Godfrey Baluku, the State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, "The BANATEX project is a significant step forward in our efforts to promote sustainable development in the region. By leveraging banana fiber, we are not only reducing our reliance on synthetic textiles but also creating new economic opportunities for our local farmers and communities."

The project is expected to have a positive impact on the environment, as it will reduce the amount of waste generated by the textile industry. "The BANATEX project is a timely response to the challenges facing the textile industry," said Hon. Baluku. "By fostering local production, we are creating avenues for job creation and empowering communities throughout the region."

The project will also provide training and research opportunities for students and faculty at Busitema University, which is a key partner in the initiative. "We are excited about the potential of the BANATEX project to drive meaningful change in our region," said Hon. Baluku. "We believe that this project will not only benefit our local communities but also position East Africa as a leader in sustainable textiles."

"We must work together to ensure the success of the BANATEX project," advised Hon. Baluku. "I invite all stakeholders, including universities, industries, and government entities, to engage actively in this endeavor."
