As the world prepares for World Tourism Day, Uganda is gearing up to showcase its tourism potential. In a bid to improve the quality of food services in the tourism sector, the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute Jinja yesterday trained food vendors in Kasese Municipality on food safety and customer care.

The two-day training, held at the Kasese Municipal Council Central Division, covered topics such as food production, food hygiene, customer care, and business skills. The training was attended by various food vendors, including hotel owners, chapatti, madanzi, and chips dealers.

"We learned so much about food safety and customer care," said Jane Nalwanga, a chapatti vendor in Kasese Municipality. "We can't wait to put our new skills into practice and improve our businesses."

"We are proud to have facilitated this training," said Mr. Daniel Kazungu, PRO of the Uganda Hotel and Tourism Training Institute Jinja. "We are confident that it will make a positive impact on the food vendors and the tourism industry as a whole."

The training is part of the institute's efforts to improve the quality of food services in the tourism sector and boost Uganda's tourism industry. "We want to ensure that our food vendors are equipped to provide safe and delicious meals to our visitors," said Mr. Kazungu. "This training is crucial in achieving that goal."

The training was well-received by the food vendors, who expressed their gratitude to the institute for the opportunity to improve their skills. "We are grateful for this training," said Ms. Nalwanga. "We are confident that it will help us improve our businesses and attract more customers."

In advising the food vendors, Mr. Kazungu said, "We urge you to put your new skills into practice and maintain high standards of food safety and customer care. This will not only improve your businesses but also contribute to the growth of our tourism industry."

The food vendors were also advised to work together and support each other in order to achieve their goals. "Let us work together to improve our services and attract more customers," said Mr. Ronald Ssekiho, a food vendor in Kasese Municipality. "We can do this by supporting each other and maintaining high standards of food safety and customer care."
