HIPPOPOTAMUS MEAT SEIZURE LEADS TO ARREST OF TWO POACHERS IN KASESE

 

Kasese, Uganda - Two suspects, Mumbere Patrick, 24, and Mumbere Robert, 21, were arrested in Kahendero cell, Muhokya Sub-county, Kasese District, for possessing protected wildlife species, including hippopotamus meat.

"We have arrested two individuals found with hippopotamus meat and other wildlife products in their possession," said Nelson Tumushime, Police Spokesperson for Rwenzori East.

Tumushime cautioned residents that entering national parks without permission and possessing protected wildlife species are illegal under the Uganda Wildlife Act. "We urge everyone to respect the law and protect our wildlife. Those found breaking the law will be dealt with accordingly," he warned.

The suspects are currently being held at Kasese CPS, and detectives are working to arraign them in court.
