Gladys Boos, the Deputy Speaker of the Kenya National Assembly, blessed the marathon, explaining that the marathon shouldn't be used just for running but be considered as a gem that Uganda currently has. The Ministry of Tourism, Animal, and Antiquities, Hon. Martin Mugarra, explained that the marathon has led to infrastructure development in areas like roads. Hon. The police have been tasked with enforcing the directive and ensuring compliance. The situation highlights ongoing land disputes in the region, with many communities seeking redress for past injustices. A Fatal Road Crash in Kasese Claims Two Lives, Sends Shockwaves Through the Community.

A fatal road crash has been registered by the Territorial Police at Kasese CPS. The incident occurred at approximately 12:40 PM in Muhokya Town, along the Kasese-Mbarara Road, involving a collision between a white Toyota Hiace (Reg No. UBS 891C) and a white Mitsubishi Pajero (Reg No. UAV 674Q). The Mitsubishi Pajero's attempt to overtake led to the tragic incident, resulting in the loss of two lives. The victims have been identified as Mbusa David and Maate Mathias. Kampala, Uganda - Standard Chartered Bank Uganda is supporting the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon for the fourth year in a row. The bank is giving UGX 150 million to help elite runners and promote sports and environmental sustainability in Uganda. The bank's support will see top prizes of UGX 10 million for 42km winners and UGX 7 million for 21km winners, with additional cash prizes for top performers, persons with disabilities, and standout local athletes from Kasese.
