Kasese-Mbarara and Kilembe Roads to Be Temporarily Closed on 24th August 2024.

The Rwenzori East Police Spokesman SP Nelson Tumushime told Press today ( 20th August 2024) that two roads shall be temporarily closed 

He says that Kasese - Mbarara Road ( Section from the junction with Kilembe Road to Equator Monument) and Kilembe ( Section from the junction with Rwenzori Road to Kilembe Kilembe Sub County) shall be closed on 24th August 2024 for Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon event from  4:00hrs to 10:00hrs


Police Sensitizing Motorcyclists

SP. Nelson advised roads users to be keen enough during the Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon because these roads shall be busy because of runners. He showed that Traffic Police Department is ready to guide road users on that day

Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon, aims to create a world-class running event that celebrates the beauty and majesty of the Rwenzori Mountains. 

Their vision is to promote healthy living, boost tourism to the region, and support local communities through the power of running.

Expected Runner

By bringing together local and international runners, organizers hope to showcase the stunning landscapes of the Rwenzori Mountains and Queen Elizabeth National Park, including its famous glaciers, towering peaks, lush forests and expansive savannah. Their ultimate goal is to make the Rwenzori Marathon a must-attend event for runners and outdoor enthusiasts from around the world.

The Marathon begun with 800 runners at the starting line in 2022, and more than doubled it for our second year. For the third edition in 2024, they hope to attract more than 3000 runners to Kasese.
