Parish Chief, Chairperson LC II and Sacco Leaders Arrested over Extorting Money From PDM Beneficiaries in Kasese

On Wednesdays (21st August 2024) the Kasese Deputy RDC In-Charge of Bukonzo County, Lt. Maate Magwara handed Police the Parish Chief, Local Council Chairperson, SACCO Chairperson and other SACCO Leaders of Kanyatsi Parish in Kyondo Sub County in Bukonzo East

The suspects includes Kambale Neckson Parish Chief, LC2 Chairperson as Simon Kabikirwa, SACCO Chairperson as Prosy Mutukwa, Secretary as Jockus Masereka and Rosete Kabugho as Treasure.

"We arrested them because they are allegedly in connection with fraudulently charging each member of the SACCO, some of 40,000 to 100,000 Ug shillings as members struggles to apply for the Parish Development Model Funds" Lt. Magwara said

He explained the arrest was done after receiving several complaints from the community regarding the collection money from them as a way of benefiting from PDM Program.

"We will not tolerate corruption within the PDM program. All those involved will face the full extent of the law,” Lt . Magwara adds

LT. Magwara warns that they will continue fighting the increased PDM fraud scandals in Kasese District.

"These suspects will help police find facts about the matter raised'' Lt Magwara adds.

Kasese Mourns : Senior Four Candidate Dies at Bwera SS

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night. The student, had sat for two UNEB papers exams just yesterday, was rushed to Bwera Hospital after experiencing terminal agitation but unfortunately died upon arrival.
