Two Schools In Bukonzo West - Kasese Decry Toilets and Clean Water- Worry for Cholera.
The concern was raised on Tuesday 27 August 2024 by two Head Teachers from government aided schools of greater Kitholhu, Bukonzo County West in Kasese District
Kathembo P/S and Kisabu P/S in Kithoma- Kanyatsi Town council and Kitholhu sub-county, the head teachers Kamala Dovico and George Kiiza respectively say they are facing a numerous challenges as they execute their duties.
" We decry of under staffing, inadequate infrastructures, furniture, clean water and toilets at our institutions. We ask government to intervene" Kamala Dovico and George Kiiza say
They say these challenges affect their performance, calling for quick response from the education department and concerned government agencies
The head teachers also have fear of diseases outbreak due to inadequate toilets. Kathembo primary school with an enrollment of 815 has one toilet with four stances and the duo has since asked government to consider they outcry for better service delivery.
On same day, the Kasese District Local Government commissioned multiple buildings on these two schools to overcome the challenge of inadequate infrastructure.
The Chairperson LC III for Kithoma-Kanyatsi Town council, Milton Kule commends government for construct buildings, say the development will improve learning environment for pupils.
"I request government to work on said challenges for smooth running of the institutions." Mr. Milton request
In his response to the concerns, the vice Chairperson LCV Ntuhwera Ham applauses locals for supervising the projects, ask the stakeholders to be lenient as government plans to fix and find a permanent solution to the problems.
In his commissioning remarks, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt Joe Walusimbi urge parents to provide scholastic materials to learners as their role, as government plans to improve work on some of their challenges.
