Uganda People's Defense Forces Assures Security To Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon.

It's reported that participants from 32 Countries have confirmed their attendence in Tusker Lite Mt Rwenzori Marathon on addition to those of Uganda.

Runners from Outside Countries 

In Press Statement signed by Brigadier General the UPDF Director of Public Information dated 22 August 2024 reveals that they are determined to ensure a peaceful Marathon.

" The UPDF is committed to ensuring a secure, allowing participants to focus on the race and enjoy their time in Kasese" Felix noted.

He urges public to be vigilant and report any insecure matter to security operatives.

" We ask for cooperation from all attendees. If you notify anything suspicious or concerning, please report it immediately to the nearest security personnel or UPDF officers who will be stationed throughout the event ready to address any concern" Felix adds

He adds that Kasese's stunning landscape and the majestic Rwenzori Mountains provide a unique setting for the marathon.

Kasese Runners During their Training 

Meanwhile the prize money for this year’s marathon will be distributed among the top finishers in each category as follows:

  • Men’s 42 km: UGX 10 million for the winner, with cash prizes for the top 6 finishers.
  • Ladies’ 42 km: UGX 10 million for the winner, with cash prizes for the top 6 finishers.
  • Men’s 21 km: UGX 7 million for the winner, with cash prizes for the top 5 finishers.
  • Ladies’ 21 km: UGX 7 million for the winner, with cash prizes for the top 5 finishers.

In addition to these awards, special cash prizes will be given to the best local talent from the Rwenzori region and Persons With Disabilities (PWDs).

Kasese Mourns : Senior Four Candidate Dies at Bwera SS

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night. The student, had sat for two UNEB papers exams just yesterday, was rushed to Bwera Hospital after experiencing terminal agitation but unfortunately died upon arrival. Arinitwe Brain from Katadoba in Kasese Municipality finished in 7th position in 21KM race. However most of athletes' positions were not disclosed to our reporter.
