KASESE MOURNS FIVE: Victims of Road Accidents and Water Tragedies in One Week
A devastating week in Kasese District has left residents reeling after five people lost their lives in separate incidents.
Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, confirmed the tragic events."This week, we so far registered five incidents that led to deaths," SP Tumushime said.
Three people died in two fatal road accidents. The first accident occurred at Kirembe junction in Kasese Municipality, involving a motorcycle number UFV 205B Boxer, which lost control and entered Queen Elizabeth National Park, claiming the lives of the rider whose particulars has been released and passenger, Mbusa Johnson.
Another accident in Mpondwe Lhubiriha Town Council saw a minor killed on the spot when an actros number RAE 489L crushed a motorcycle number UFL 292D.
Police attribute the high rate of road accidents to reckless driving and overloading.
Additionally, a body was retrieved from River Nyamwamba in Kasese Municipality. Authorities urge the public to identify the deceased at Kasese Municipal Health Center III.
In a separate incident, Kambale Ferigo, 35, was killed by a crocodile while fishing illegally in breeding zones in Katwe Kabatoro Division. He was a resident of Kisinga Sub County
"The public should prioritize safety and follow recommended guidelines," SP Tumushime emphasized.
Fishermen are warned against fishing in breeding zones of crocodiles.
