Government Commit Total Support to the 3rd Edition of Rwenzori Theluji Festival.
Through Mr. James Mboijana Tourism Development Officer under the Ministry of Tourism Wildlife and Antiquities , the government pledged its total support towards success of the Festival
"The Rwenzori Theluji Festival is an opportunity for us to market our National parks in Kasese. We thank the organisers for bringing this together and we shall support them" Hon James pledge
The commitment was made during Rwenzori Theluji Festival Presser held at Hotel Africana - Kampala today ( 2 September 2024). This year's Festival is under a theme "Celebrating Sustainable Tourism, Cultural Heritage and Environmental Conservation"
Engineer Wilfred Matsande the Vice Chairman Rwenzori Theluji Festival Organising Committee say that the festival is organized by Kasese Tourism Investors Forum which mainly aim to improve sustainable tourism within the Rwenzori Region.
"As the Rwenzori Theluji Festival returns for its third edition, we are at a developmental moment of sustainable tourism within the Rwenzori Region. This festival is not just an event; it is a commitment, a celebration of our cultural heritage, our environment, and our shared diversity. It is our dedication to creating a sustainable tourism destination that benefits every Ugandan." Matsande expound.
"The Rwenzori Theluji Festival is an annual event that happens every first weekend of September, this year, the 2024 edition will take place from the 5th to 8th September 2024 at Rwenzori Square in Kasese Municipality. This festival, is a pre-cursor event for the celebrations of the World Tourism Month in Uganda. Luckily enough, the World Tourism Day celebrations in Uganda will be held in Kasese District." Matsande address
He narrate the tree planting is prior reason for Rwenzori Theluji Festival, where National Forestry Authority and Roofings shall lead the activity.
" We shall be able to plant 50,000 seedlings, this is just a leap in the right direction towards our mission of planting six million trees in 5 years across the region. Every tree planted, and every piece of litter removed, is a step towards a healthier, more resilient environment." Baritazara address
Matsande stress that Championing Cultural Diversity and Unity in Rwenzori Region is part of their important activities during the Festival.
"At the heart of the Rwenzori region, lies a diversity of different tribes and cultures forming unity as snow, who have harmoniously lived together for ages and the Rwenzori Theluji Festival brings them to celebrate this diversity through the Cultural Gala component. Here, we bring together the Rwenzori region's rich traditions and diverse cultures, showcasing the food, dances, coffee shows, cow-milk experience, canoe experiences, bicycle cycling, music, and crafts that define our collective identity." Matsande add
Eng Matsande say this year different leaders have confirmed their attendance in their participation in festival cultural gala.
"This year, we are excited to introduce new elements that deepen our cultural exchange, fostering unity and mutual respect among our communities." Eng Matsande say
Eng. Matsande add that King, His Majesty Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is the Guest of Honor at the climax of the festival cultural gala

A number of sponsors both from Government and Private have be engaged to realize the success of the Festival and they're Uganda Communications Commission, Nile Breweries Limited, Roofings (U) LTD, Crown Beverages, Uganda Investment Authority, National Water and Sewerage Corporation, Uganda Tourism Board, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development under the GROW Project among others.
