"I'm still waiting for my laptop, but all I got was excuses'' - Intern's Frustration with Self-Proclaimed Influencer In Kasese Town
A concerning incident has been brought to my attention involving a self-proclaimed influencer who allegedly defrauded an intern of over 300k under the guise of selling a laptop computer. The intern, who was in need of a laptop, was asked to provide money to the influencer, who promised to deliver the device.
However, it is alleged that the influencer failed to deliver the laptop and instead paid part of the money back to the intern, leaving a balance of 60k outstanding. The influencer, who is a journalist working with a media house in Kasese, has been accused of taking advantage of the intern's trust and exploiting their vulnerability.
As a human rights defender, I am calling on the influencer to immediately repay the outstanding balance of 60k to the intern. It is unacceptable for individuals in positions of power and influence to exploit and deceive others for personal gain. I urge the influencer to take responsibility for their actions and make amends to the victim.
Furthermore, I condemn the behavior of exploiting and torturing individuals, particularly women, who are trying to make a living in their respective fields. It is essential that we promote a culture of respect, empathy, and integrity in all our interactions.
I will be monitoring this situation closely and expect the influencer to take immediate action to resolve this matter. Failure to do so will result in further action being taken to expose the truth and seek justice for the victim."
