Kasese Residents Issue 3-Day Ultimatum: Produce Mining Documents or Face Protests

Residents of Kirembe Cell in Central Division, Kasese Municipality, have given the Kasese Municipal Council an ultimatum of three days to produce operational documents for Laval Ash mining activities

"We will hold peaceful demonstrations and block roads if they fail to provide the required documents," warned Hon. Augustine Muhindo, Municipal Male councilor. "The community has suffered from environmental damage and health issues due to dust pollution."

Hon. John Siriwayo, secretary for workers and natural resources, added, "We've made multiple requests for operational licenses from JEMS Investment Limited Hima, but to no avail. We demand special considerations, including water taps and road beautification."

By Press time efforts to reach JEMS Investment Limited for comment were unsuccessful because their contacts were off.
