Kenyan Athletics Mourns: Willy Chelawa Found Dead at Training Base

In a devastating blow to Kenya's athletics community, promising athlete Willy Chelawa was found dead today morning September 17th 2024 at his training base in Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet County. The shocking discovery has left fellow athletes, coaches, and fans reeling.

Chelawa's training partners made the grim discovery when he failed to show up for a morning training session, sparking concerns about his whereabouts. His body was later found, but the cause of death remains unclear.

Willy Chelawa was found dead at his training base in Kaptagat, Elgeyo Marakwet County. 

The 65th-place finisher in the recent Nairobi City Half Marathon, Chelawa had demonstrated immense potential and dedication to the sport. His participation in prominent events had earmarked him as a talent to watch.

The athletics fraternity is now mourning the loss of a young life filled with promise. Chelawa's untimely passing serves as a poignant reminder of the challenges and risks athletes face, both on and off the track.
