Two Killed In Kasese Floods, Scores Stranded - Uganda

River Nyamwamba today morning (7th September 2024) busted it's banks resulting to death of two people, a Male and Female. 

According to Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime say that two people were drown in floods that stormed the most parts of Nyamwamba Division in Kasese Town.

SP. Nelson say that they're are get details about the dead. However reveal that they're all at Mt.St Mary's Hospital for postmortem as police file a full report about the sad incident.

Lt. Joe Walusimbi the Kasese District Resident Commissioner urge residents in the affected areas to be on alert and shift to safer places.

He show that a team from district disastar and preparedness committee is in field make a report and brief government about the affected families and businesses.

Meanwhile, floods affected business activities and transport in town, where one Bwambale John, Youth Go Green Coordinator Rwenzori Region call upon communities to plant more trees as government look for immediate support for affected families.

Patrick Muhesi Baluku the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Minister for Finance, Planning and Economic Development, on behalf of the Kingdom sympathized and condoled with bereaved family and Kasese community at large.

Several houses in areas along the banks of River Nyamwamba were submerged, leaving their occupants stranded. 

River Nyamwamba, which is fed by melting glaciers from the Rwenzori Mountains, is the main source of water for both agriculture and domestic, including the Mubuku Irrigation Scheme.

Kasese Mourns : Senior Four Candidate Dies at Bwera SS

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night. The student, had sat for two UNEB papers exams just yesterday, was rushed to Bwera Hospital after experiencing terminal agitation but unfortunately died upon arrival.
