Tragedy Strikes: House Collapse Claims Couple's Lives in Bunyangabu, Leaves Others Homeless in Kasese
A devastating incident occurred in Bunyangabu District on Tuesday at approximately 6:30 p.m. when a house collapsed, claiming the lives of a couple, Ivan Musinguzi and Kellen Tukwasibwe, in Rubalika B cell, Kakinga Town Council.
The victims were identified by LC1 chairperson Mohammed Nkwasibwe. Musinguzi, a casual laborer from Bushenyi District, and Tukwasibwe, a local resident, lost their lives in the tragic accident.
According to eyewitness Josephat Muwonge, the house fell due to a heavy downpour accompanied by a hailstorm. Muwonge described the scene, saying:
"I first saw Musinguzi's arm and realized he had died, then discovered Tukwasibwe's body and raised an alarm that drew a crowd."
Remegiuos Turyahebwa, LC3 of Kakinga Town Council, expressed his condolences, describing the incident as "deeply unfortunate." He also reported that other residents suffered damage to their homes and crops due to the storm.
In related incidents, four buildings collapsed in Kahokya, Kasese District, leaving people homeless. Additionally, four houses were destroyed by a strong windstorm in Muhokya Town Council, Kasese district.
Mr. Patrick Bengahania, a concerned citizen and former District Councilor, said:
"The incident followed a heavy downpour that befell the area. Banana plantations, beans, red pepper, and livestock have also been destroyed."
