WARNING: Rwenzori East Region Police Cracks Down on Reckless Driving as Schools Reopen

As the third term of the school calendar begins, Rwenzori East Region Police is sounding the alarm on road safety. With thousands of students returning to school, authorities are urging drivers, parents, and motorists to exercise extreme caution.

"The safety of our children is paramount," says SP Nelson Tumushime, Rwenzori Region Police Spokesperson. "We will be monitoring road users closely, and any driver found overloading students or engaging in reckless behavior will face the full force of the law."

Tumushime warns drivers to avoid overtaking and to follow all traffic regulations. "Our Traffic Police will be deployed on major highways and roads to punish errant drivers who put our children's lives at risk."

With most schools reopening today, September 15th, and others tomorrow, especially day students, the police are urging parents to ensure their children's safety. "Let us work together to prevent accidents and ensure our children arrive at school safely," Tumushime emphasizes.

Stay safe, and stay informed!
