Deterioration of Ibuga Health Centre III: Community Members Advocate for Upgrade-Kasese

The degradation of Ibuga Health Centre III, located at Ibuga Kasanga I Village, Rugendabara Parish,Kitsamba Sub County in Kasese District, has left the facility in a state of disrepair. 

The once-thriving health centre, which was downgraded in 2007, now struggles to provide quality medical services to the community. The six buildings are on the verge of collapse, and community members are urging the government to take action and upgrade the health centre.

"I am calling on the government to upgrade Ibuga Health Centre II to a III status to extend medical services to the public," said Kyisukyi Joseph, former Chairperson of the village in where the health centre is located, who served from 1996-2007. "The downgrade of the health centre in 2007 has left residents at high risk of accessing medical services. The health centre used to serve a big population in this area, but now it's a struggle for people to access medical care."

"The health centre used to serve a big population in this area, but now pregnant mothers like me face difficulties during delivery," said Kyamibwa Regina, a mother from the area. "We have to travel long distances to access medical services, which is costly and risky. It's especially hard for pregnant women like me who need regular check-ups and care."

"The current state of the health centre is unacceptable," said Kule Arnold, a community member. "It's not operational on weekends, which puts locals' lives at risk. We need the government to intervene and upgrade the health centre to serve the community. It's a matter of life and death."

"The downgrade of the health facility cheated youth like me who were inspired to get jobs from the facility," said Mbusa Dickson, a youth from the area.

 "I urge the government to renovate the health centre and restore its former status to serve the community. We need jobs and we need medical care."

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night.
