Empowering Youth: Unlocking Potential and Achieving Dreams - Kasese
In a bid to inspire and motivate young people, the Great Lakes Peace Centre in partnership with Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, a German political cooperation, recently organized a transformative talk in Kasese town. The event aimed to encourage youth to take control of their lives, recognize opportunities, and achieve their goals.
"The greatest danger to most of us is not that we aim too high and miss, but that we aim too low and hit." - Michelangelo
Winfred Kiiza Nyabahasa, former woman member of parliament for Kasese district, emphasized the importance of recognizing opportunities. "Many youth in Uganda and the world at large fail to recognize opportunities that could shape their lives infinitely." She advised young people to be bold, focused, and to always decline behaviors that kill hopes, such as early teenage pregnancies, self-doubt, and not trying new opportunities.
Afan Abdullah, executive director for Great Lakes Peace Centre, added, "At any stage of life, one can achieve their desired goal if they are consistent." He encouraged young people to be consistent in pursuing their dreams and to never give up.
Retired bishop for south Rwenzori diocese, Zebedee Masereka Kahwanga, emphasized the importance of self-discovery. "Know who you are and start chasing your dreams." He advised young people to identify their special talents, utilize them, and prosper.
The event was a resounding success, with many young people in attendance inspired to take control of their lives and achieve their dreams. As Abraham Lincoln once said, "The best way to predict your future is to create it."
By empowering youth and unlocking their potential, we can create a brighter future for generations to come.".
