OMUSINGA WA RWENZURURU MARKS 58TH CORONATION ANNIVERSARY, COMMITTING TO TOURISM AND DEVELOPMENT
Omusinga Wisely Mumbere Iremangoma, the king of the Rwenzururu Kingdom, has marked his 58th coronation anniversary with a commitment to support tourism initiatives and improve livelihoods in the area.
In his speech to political, cultural, religious leaders and Rwenzururu Subjects on 19th October 2034 at Kilembe Golf Course in Kasese Town.
Omusinga Wisely Mumbere Iremangoma emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration, saying, "We want to improve the livelihoods of our people and ensure that our kingdom is developed. We are committed to supporting tourism and adding value to our crops to improve prices. We urge our people to work together with stakeholders and ensure that we improve our farm produce."
The kingdom has also emphasized the importance of education, healthcare, and environmental conservation. "Let's practice family planning and prioritize health for our children and youth," added Omusinga Wisely Mumbere Iremangoma. "We must also plant more trees and avoid activities that may lead to environmental destruction."
With a focus on unity and collaboration, the Rwenzururu Kingdom is determined to build a brighter future for its people. "We don't want anyone to disturb the connection we have with the government," said Omusinga Wisely Mumbere Iremangoma. "Let's work together to build our kingdom and improve our livelihoods."
Vice President Jessica Alupo attended the ceremony and delivered a message from President Yoweri Museveni, congratulating the Omusinga on this special occasion. President Museveni also supported the kingdom with 30 million UGX towards the coronation anniversary.
Kasese District Local Council Five Chairperson Muhindi Eliphaz expressed gratitude to the government for its timely financial support, saying, "We are grateful for the government's support, which has enabled us to celebrate this important occasion. We call for anti-corruption efforts, support for internally displaced persons and royal guides, and increased funding for road construction and disaster mitigation."
Hon. Kambale Ferigo, the member of parliament for Kasese Municipality, requested the President to consider restatement of Kilembe Mines Hospital because it was serving 5 sub counties, saying, "We urge the President to consider our request to restatement Kilembe Mines Hospital, which will benefit our people and improve healthcare services in our area."
Isabaruuli Isabarongo Mwalyansozi Mwogezi Butamanya Mubijwa I, the King of Buruuli, Uganda Kings and Cultural Leaders Forum, who also attended the Coronation Anniversary, said, "We need support from government to improve the economic well-being of kingdoms in the country."
Rt. Hon Kihanda Hassan, the Deputy Prime Obudingya Bwa Bwamba, congratulated the kingdom on this milestone, saying, "This is a great achievement for the kingdom. We must continue to work together for developmental and peaceful coexistence."
Mr. Mukeri James, an old man in his 90's and an OBR Subject from Bundibungyo District, expressed his excitement and gratitude for the achievements registered in the Kingdom, saying, "I am so happy to see the progress in our kingdom. I thank the government for their support."
The Vice President pledged that requests made by leaders will be worked upon by relevant departments.
