Senior Four Candidate Commits Suicide, Another Pregnant : "Tragedy Strikes Karambi Secondary School in Kasese"

Reports reaching our news desk indicate that a Senior Four candidate at Karambi Secondary School committed suicide today due to a love affair and shame. 

According to Samson Kule, the deputy headteacher, "The victim has been identified as Maate Emmanuel, who was suspended earlier this term for impregnating a Senior One student."


Maate had been waiting for exams at home, where police and parents were handling the matter of the pregnancy.

Samson added that the another female candidate was impregnated, however didn't give much detail about the matter

Paddy Muhindo, the Karambi Local Council Three Chairperson, regretted the incident, saying, "This is a tragic loss of a young life. 

"We must come together as a community to support the family and ensure that our children receive the guidance they need."

Paddy noted that Maate's grandfather had sold his land, worth 2 million UGX, to pay a fine to the girl's family. 

"This is a stark reminder of the challenges our children face," Paddy said. "We must ensure that we provide them with the support and resources they need to thrive."


By press time the body of the deceased was at Bwera Hospital for postmortem waiting for burial in Mirami Village Karambi Sub County

Kasese Mourns : Senior Four Candidate Dies at Bwera SS

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night. The student, had sat for two UNEB papers exams just yesterday, was rushed to Bwera Hospital after experiencing terminal agitation but unfortunately died upon arrival.
