UGANDAN MOTHER'S BODY STRANDED IN DUBAI MORTUARY, FAMILY PLEADS FOR HELP
A heart-wrenching story has emerged from Dubai, where the body of a Ugandan mother, Nabukenya Joanita Mirembe, has been stuck in a mortuary for three months due to lack of funds to bring her back home.
Nabukenya, a 30-year-old single mother of two, passed away on July 26th, 2024, after a brave battle with tuberculosis. Despite her struggles, she had been working tirelessly in Dubai to provide for her children, Nakintu Shakira (11) and Mwanje Shamir (9).
However, her family is now facing a new challenge - raising the 8 million UGX needed to bring her body back home. The children, who are currently living with a school teacher, are in need of support and guidance during this difficult time.
The community has come together to raise funds and support the family in bringing Nabukenya home and providing for the children's education and well-being. However, more help is needed to ensure that Nabukenya receives the dignity of being laid to rest in her ancestral land.
"We are appealing to anyone who can help us bring our mother home," said a family member. "We want to give her the respect and dignity she deserves, and ensure that her children are taken care of."
The story has touched the hearts of many, with people taking to social media to share their condolences and offer support. A WhatsApp group has been set up to coordinate fundraising efforts and provide updates on the family's progress.
As the family continues to plead for help, one thing is clear - Nabukenya's legacy will live on through her children, and the community's support will ensure that they are given the chance to thrive.
