Devastating Storm Leaves 300 People Stranded in Kasese District

 

"A powerful storm has ravaged Kiganda and Kyarukara wards in Katwe-Kabatooro town council, Kasese district, leaving a trail of destruction and despair. The strong winds and heavy rainfall have blown off at least 65 houses, leaving 300 people stranded and without shelter."

"The situation is dire, and we urgently need relief," said Ms. Kahindo Maliselina, one of the affected people. "We are spending cold nights under trees and in the open, and we desperately 

Four people have sustained serious injuries, and properties worth an unspecified amount of money have been destroyed. The affected people are appealing to the government and civil society organizations for humanitarian support 

"We are in dire need of food, shelter, and medical attention," said Ms. Goreti Kabagambe, another affected person. "We are begging for help to get back on our feet."

The Area Member of Parliament, Hon. Gideon Thembo Mujungu, has pledged to forward their message to the Office of the Prime Minister. "I will do everything possible to ensure that the affected people receive the support they need," he said.

In the meantime, the affected people are struggling to come to terms with their loss. "We are grateful to have survived the storm, but we urgently need help to rebuild our lives," said Irene Kiiza, an affected person.
