DR. KIYONGA'S MOTHER LEGACY WILL LIVE ON
Makerere University Chancellor Dr. Crispus Kiyonga bid farewell to his mother, Evasta Mbambu Kiyonga, at her funeral in Bunyiswa village, Bwera sub-county in Kasese district on 16th November 2024, saying "Her legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched." She passed away on Friday ( 15th November 2024) at the age of 112 due to high blood pressure.
" She was a mother who loved championing the fight against hunger and putting education on top," Dr. Crispus Kiyonga added, describing his late mother.
Former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, who attended the funeral, urged the community to come together to fight hunger. "Let us join hands to fight hunger in our communities," he said. "We must work together to build a better future for ourselves and our children."
State Minister for ICT and National Guidance Godfrey Kabbyanga also spoke at the funeral, encouraging the community to embrace the recent coffee bill. "Let us not politicize the coffee bill, but rather see it as an opportunity to improve our coffee farming through extension services," he said.
The late Evasta Mbambu Kiyonga will be deeply missed by her family and community. May she rest in peace.
