Police Crack Down on Illegible Number Plates. - Kasese

The Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, has issued a stern warning to drivers in the region whose motor vehicle and motorbike number plates are not visible. "Having clearly visible number plates is crucial for accountability and road safety," SP Tumushime stressed.

He pointed out that some drivers have worn out, bent, or decorated number plates that make them difficult to read, violating road safety regulations and hindering law enforcement officers from effectively monitoring and identifying vehicles.

"To address this issue, traffic officers will conduct operations to arrest drivers with illegible number plates," SP Tumushime announced. "Those found in violation will face fines of 40,000 shillings or may be taken to court for further legal action."

With festivals approaching and an expected increase in vehicles on the road, SP Tumushime emphasized the need for road users to exercise caution and adhere to traffic laws to prevent accidents. "Let us work together to ensure our safety on the roads."
