Rwenzori Sub-Region Poised for Agro-Processing Boom

In a landmark meeting with Hajji Kiggundu Hamis, plans for a mega agro-processing project in the Rwenzori Sub-region were unveiled, highlighting the vast investment potential in the area. "We are excited about the prospects of agro-processing in Kasese," said Asimwe Jane Muhindo, Resident City Commissioner of Kampala. "The strategic location of Kasese, coupled with the peaceful environment, makes it an ideal location for investment."

According to Asimwe Jane, the region's connectivity to the Democratic Republic of Congo, coupled with its own rich agricultural produce, makes it an attractive destination for agro-processing industries. "We have a huge market of agriculture raw products from Congo, especially coffee and cocoa," she noted. "Kasese connects with Congo through various routes, making it an ideal location for trade and investment."

Asimwe Jane Muhindo emphasized the region's natural advantages, including two salt lakes, copper, cobalt, cement, and limestone. "Kasese is also home to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Mt. Rwenzori National Park, which are among the top tourist destinations in Uganda," she added. "Our community is hospitable and welcoming, making it an ideal location for investment."

With its unique combination of natural resources, strategic location, and peaceful environment, the Rwenzori Sub-region is poised for an agro-processing boom. As Jane noted.
