The games, which took place from December 6 to 18, 2024, brought together over 3,500 MPs and their support staff from eight East African Community (EAC) member states.
Speaker of Parliament, Anitah Among, and her Deputy, Thomas Tayebwa, flagged off the delegation, urging them to actively participate and focus on strengthening regional integration.
"I encouraged the team to not only participate but also to focus on the core purpose of these games: to strengthen, deepen, and advance the integration of the East African Community," said Speaker Among.
Hon. Asuman Basalirwa, Chairperson of the Parliamentary Sports Club, expressed confidence in Team Uganda's preparedness to defend their title.
The games featured various sports disciplines, including football, athletics, netball, volleyball, basketball, and golf. The events were held at six major venues in Mombasa, including Mbaraki Stadium and the prestigious Nyali Golf Club.
The East African Parliamentary Games were organized by the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) to foster unity and strengthen relations among EAC member states.
