POLICE HEIGHTEN SECURITY AHEAD OF NEW YEAR'S CELEBRATIONS
Kampala, Uganda - As the clock ticks down to the start of a new year, the Uganda Police Force (UPF) has intensified security measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for the public.
According to a statement released by the UPF, officers have been deployed in various parts of the city to respond swiftly to any security threats or concerns. The public is urged to report any suspicious activity to nearby police officers or call the emergency toll-free line at 999.
Additionally, the UPF has set up an Operations Command Center, which can be reached at 0800 199699, to provide assistance and respond to emergencies.
The police have also issued a stern warning against burning tyres during the celebrations, citing safety concerns and the risk of accidents.
Meanwhile, the UPF has approved 2900 applications for fireworks displays across the country. Licensed blasters will be permitted to display fireworks, subject to strict guidelines and safety protocols.
"We urge the public to celebrate responsibly and safely," said a police spokesperson. "We are committed to ensuring a secure and enjoyable environment for all revelers."
With the enhanced security measures in place, the public can look forward to a fun and incident-free New Year's celebration.
