Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Honors First King Isaya Mukirania Kibanzanga I at Bulemba Historical Site

Some Kingdom Leaders and Other Subjects spent a day at a site which is located in Ihandiro Sub County where they respected and prayed for Isaya Mukirinia. Isaya Mukirania Kibanzanga I (1924–September 2, 1966) was a Ugandan teacher and political activist who led the Rwenzururu movement, a rebellion against the Tooro Kingdom and the central government of Uganda.  He is revered as the founder of the Kingdom of Rwenzururu and its first self-proclaimed Omusinga (King), reigning from the Rwenzori Mountains from 1962 until his death on September 2, 1966. In a speech read by Nzaghali Muhindo Noah, Speaker of the House of Representatives of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, the reigning Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere noted that Isaya Mukirania played a significant role in the revolution of the Rwenzururu Kingdom, alongside others who supported the kingdom’s establishment. Standard Chartered Bank Uganda Gives UGX 150 Million to Support Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon

Kampala, Uganda - Standard Chartered Bank Uganda is supporting the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon for the fourth year in a row. The bank is giving UGX 150 million to help elite runners and promote sports and environmental sustainability in Uganda. The bank's support will see top prizes of UGX 10 million for 42km winners and UGX 7 million for 21km winners, with additional cash prizes for top performers, persons with disabilities, and standout local athletes from Kasese. According to Sanjay Rughani, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Uganda, the partnership has transformed Kasese, creating opportunities and pride for its residents.
