Young Mothers Graduate with Vocational Skills in Maliba Town Council

Maliba, Kasese Western Uganda - Twenty young mothers in Maliba Town Council have taken a significant step towards empowerment by graduating with vocational skills in hairdressing and tailoring, thanks to the Girl Empowerment Foundation (GEF).

The graduation ceremony, held at the Maliba Town Council headquarters, was a moment of pride for the graduates, their parents, and the GEF team.

"I am thrilled to see these young mothers acquire skills that will enable them to support themselves and their families," said Mr. Joshua Muhindo, Executive Director of GEF. "I urge them to focus on their newfound skills and rebuild their lives. Remember, it's never too late to start anew."

Mr. Muhindo also emphasized the importance of parents' involvement in their children's lives, saying, "Parents, take responsibility and ensure your children have a safe space to start from. Your support is crucial in helping them succeed."

Ms. Beatrice Pangani, Vice Chairperson of the GEF Board of Governors, praised parents for their hard work and encouraged them to continue supporting their children's education. "It's not the end of the journey; it's just the beginning. I urge you to continue supporting your children as they pursue further education and skills development," she said.

Mr. Abdul Saad, Chairperson of Maliba Town Council, commended GEF for its efforts in empowering young mothers and requested the organization to expand its reach to other areas with similar challenges. "GEF is doing a great job in empowering young mothers. We request that you extend your services to other areas where young mothers need support," he said.

The graduates and their parents expressed gratitude and eagerness to utilize their new skills to achieve their life goals and make up for lost time. "I am so grateful for this opportunity. I can now support my family and build a better future for myself and my children," said one of the graduates.

This initiative is a testament to the power of vocational training in transforming lives and promoting economic empowerment.
