SERIOUS ACCIDENT IN KASESE DISTRICT LEAVES THREE PUPILS INJURED
A tragic road collision occurred in Ndongo Village in Nyakiyumbu Sub County, Kasese District, on March 27, 2025, involving a Sino Truck that overturned and injured three male juveniles. The victims, aged 3 and 6, were taken to Bwera Hospital for treatment.
According to reports from police the accident happened around 1:00 am when the truck, registration number UBP 057N, failed to negotiate a corner due to rain-slick road surfaces. The vehicle was carrying marram and ended up on a fence at Shalom Junior School.
The injured juveniles, identified as Mumbere Brighton (6 years), Adrati Sixtusi (3 years), and Mumbere Edrick (3 years), are all residents of Nyakiyumbu One Village.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident and stated that the police are currently investigating the incident. "The driver is still at large, and inquiries are ongoing," Tumushime said.
The police team, led by SP Tai Ramathani DPC Bwera Division, visited the scene and parked the vehicle at Bwera Division pending inspection.
The incident has raised concerns about road safety in the region, particularly during rainy conditions. The police have urged drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such accidents.
