Rwenzururu Kingdom Mourns Deputy Minister in Tragic Attack in DR. Congo

The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom is mourning the loss of Hon. Anuarite Kavira Kyalima, Deputy Minister of Intercultural Cooperation and External Relations, who was brutally murdered in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, April 29, 2025.

According to reports, Hon. Anuarite was attacked by unknown assailants while returning from a burial ceremony. Her death is a significant blow to the Kingdom and ongoing efforts toward cross-border cooperation and intercultural harmony.

The Kingdom through its spokesperson Hon. Kanyonyi Geoffrey announced that its flag will be flown at half-mast for three days (April 30 - May 2, 2025 - Burial) as a mark of respect and mourning. It's on record that during the celebration of Kasese at 50 years the kingdom flag was seen flown at half-mast

The loss of Hon. Anuarite is deeply felt, and the Kingdom calls on all subjects to stand together in mourning this gallant daughter of Rwenzururu. Her legacy as a symbol of peace, unity, and community advancement will continue to inspire efforts towards unity, peace, and shared identity.

Last year she led a team of over 40 kingdom subjects from DR. Congo to witness the coronation anniversary for the King.
