Gulu City Marathon Set for International Certification

The Gulu City Marathon is gearing up for its second edition, with organizers working towards obtaining international certification. This development is set to revolutionize the running landscape in Uganda, allowing athletes to participate in certified races locally.

According to Francis Gimara, the Gulu City Marathon team leader, the event is scheduled for December 6th, 2025. The team is currently in engagements to secure international certification, which would enable runners to achieve certified times without having to travel abroad.

This move is expected to boost the city's sports tourism industry and provide opportunities for local athletes to compete at a higher level. The marathon's certification would also put Gulu on the global running map, alongside other major marathon destinations.

Today they held a launch where another bigger launch is planned for Kampala and Gulu in about two months, where the organizers will unveil their finalized plans and showcase the certifications obtained.

The Gulu City Marathon promises to be an exciting event, and with international certification on the horizon, it's set to attract runners from far and wide.

Kasese Mourns : Senior Four Candidate Dies at Bwera SS

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night. The student, had sat for two UNEB papers exams just yesterday, was rushed to Bwera Hospital after experiencing terminal agitation but unfortunately died upon arrival.
