Kithulha, Maryline, and Mbakania Unhappy with Kasese NRM Member of Parliaments Primaries Elections, Announce Hard Actions

The NRM primaries in Kasese have concluded, with several aspirants expressing discontent over the results. Kambale Ferigo was declared the NRM flag bearer for Kasese Municipality, while Dr. Chrispus Kiyonga emerged victorious in the Bukonzo West NRM MP primaries, winning with 65.2%. Notably, Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabyanga Kiima, who lost in the primaries, congratulated Dr. Kiyonga on his win.

Dr. Monday Julius Rude also won the NRM party primaries in Bukonzo East, defeating two men and one woman. In Busongora South, Mulindwa David defeated incumbent MP Mujunju Thembo Gedion.

However, Francis Mugisa Kithulha, who lost to Ferigo in Kasese Municipality, has issued a four-day ultimatum to the Electoral Commission to include a polling station inexplicably omitted from the declaration process.

Kithulha claims he was leading before the results were declared and believes the omitted votes could have altered the outcome. He demands the Electoral Commission tally the votes, seeking transparency and fairness.

Kabugho Mary Maryline, who lost the Kasese Women Member of Parliament seat to Sarah Baleke, alleged favoritism by the NRM Chairperson and urged her supporters to remain calm as she considers her next step. Kabugho will now face Sarah Baleke, Kabugho Florence of the FDC, and Kamama Fatuma of the NUP in the general election.

Asiimwe Mike Mbakani, who lost in the NRM primaries for the member of Parliament for Busongora North, has pledged to contest as an independent candidate, determined to push forward despite contesting three times without success in the primaries and not being given any political appointment or role. He has urged his supporters to remain calm.

The results were declared at Rwenzori International Hotel, with the returning officer, Mr. Mbusa Amon, calling on those not satisfied with the results to petition at the national level. Mr. Saturday Madaraka, one of the contestants who ran against Hon. Kambale Ferigo, congratulated him on his victory and promised to work with him.
