NUP's Kyagulanyi Receives Certificate of Verification, Alleges Electoral Commission Delay Tactics

Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate, has received a certificate of verification of supporters from the Uganda Electoral Commission. However, he's accused the commission of deliberate delay tactics.

According to Kyagulanyi, the EC initially requested NUP to provide additional signatures, which were subsequently submitted. Despite receiving the certificate, Kyagulanyi's nomination has been rescheduled to Wednesday, September 24, at 2:00 pm, contrary to the initially booked slot of Tuesday, September 23, at 10:00 am.

Kyagulanyi alleges that the EC's actions are aimed at frustrating his campaign plans, particularly his rally schedule. Nevertheless, he claims to have booked venues for rallies on both dates, demonstrating his determination to proceed with his campaign

"NUP has moved ahead of them and booked both Katwe Grounds and Kaala Playground (Nateete) for both dates! Nothing will stop the revolutionary cause!" Kyagulanyi posted on X.
