Rwenzori Theluji Festival Showcases Diverse Cultures, Promotes Unity and Development
The Rwenzori Theluji Festival has been hailed as a success in promoting peace, unity, and development in the region.
Hon. Kule Baritazale Benson Kule, Prime Minister of Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, praised the festival for bringing together diverse cultures and fostering unity among the public.
The festival featured traditional dance performances at Rwenzori Square, attracting visitors from outside Uganda.
Hon. Baritazale announced plans to establish a cultural village to unite the region's diverse cultures and promote development. He also urged the public to reject tribalism and focus on development.
The event was supported by local leaders, including Mr. Muhindi Bukombi Eliphaz, Chairperson LC V of Kasese District, who pledged to continue promoting the festival.
Mr. Mbogha Johnson, Chairperson of the Organizing Committee, emphasized the festival's goal of promoting tourism and cultural heritage.
The festival also included activities such as tree planting, with the International Tree Foundation launching a project to plant trees in the Kasese industrial conservation area.
With over 50 different cultures in the region, cultural tourism is seen as a potential driver of community development.
