Organic Fertilizers: A Solution to Climatic Challenges in Kasese

Smallholder farmers in Kasese Municipality have been encouraged to adopt organic fertilizer production as a strategy to mitigate climate-related challenges. During a two-day training session held in Kibenge Cell, Kasese Municipality, Evelyn Mugume, the Kasese Municipal Environmental Officer, emphasized the detrimental effects of chemical fertilizers on the environment, soil, and human health. "The increased use of chemicals on farms has escalated climate-related challenges, polluting the soil and affecting its productivity," Evelyn noted. "These chemicals have also impacted the food chain, putting human life at risk, and harming beneficial insects like bees, which are crucial for pollination." Stanbic Bank Hands Over Life-Saving Medical Equipments to Rukoki Hospital - Kasese

Stanbic Bank has presented Rukoki General Hospital in Kasese District with a substantial donation of medical equipment valued at Shs 44.8 million. The equipment, comprising 10 hospital beds, 2 blood pressure monitors, 4 oxygen concentrators, and 200 mama kits, is set to enhance maternal and child healthcare services This generous donation forms part of the bank's Shs 300 million corporate social responsibility initiative aimed at supporting nine healthcare facilities nationwide. RWENZORI EAST REGIONAL POLICE ASSURE SAFETY AT KYAKERE CARNIVAL

The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumusiime has  announced measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees at the upcoming Kyakere Carnival happening on 18th October 2025 at Rwenzori Square. According to SP Nelson, officers will be deployed throughout the event area to maintain public safety, and CCTV cameras will be actively monitoring the premises from the Monitoring Centre. In a press statement, SP Tumushime advised carnival-goers to follow all instructions from police and event organizers, keep valuables secure, and enjoy responsibly.
