Organic Fertilizers: A Solution to Climatic Challenges in Kasese
Smallholder farmers in Kasese Municipality have been encouraged to adopt organic fertilizer production as a strategy to mitigate climate-related challenges. During a two-day training session held in Kibenge Cell, Kasese Municipality, Evelyn Mugume, the Kasese Municipal Environmental Officer, emphasized the detrimental effects of chemical fertilizers on the environment, soil, and human health. "The increased use of chemicals on farms has escalated climate-related challenges, polluting the soil and affecting its productivity," Evelyn noted. "These chemicals have also impacted the food chain, putting human life at risk, and harming beneficial insects like bees, which are crucial for pollination."
