Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon, 5th Edition Launched with a Number of Various Development Reported.

The Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon has earned World Athletics Label Road Race status, ranking it among the top 7 in Africa and making it the only one in East Africa to achieve this position as of February 2026.

Hon. Godfrey Kabyanga, State Minister for ICT and National Guidance, hailed the marathon's high-end organization and professionalism, inviting investors to consider Kasese as an emerging hub of opportunity. Infrastructure development is underway, including expanding accommodation capacity to 10,000 rooms and creating more activities to support tourism growth.


The Minister of State for Tourism, Hon. Mugarra, acknowledged the marathon's significant impact on Uganda's tourism industry, boosting visitor numbers and driving economic growth. The event is now an official qualifier for Comrades and Two Oceans marathons, cementing its global reputation.


Hon. Thomas Tayebwa, Deputy Speaker of Parliament, revealed government plans to construct an international airport in Kasese and another in Kabale under the national 20-airport strategy. He noted that these developments are being accelerated largely because of the impact of private sector initiatives like the Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon.

The Minister of State for Education and Sports pledged a USD 1 million prize purse for the Rwenzori Marathon, commending Amos Wekesa for the visionary initiative and emphasizing the growing importance of sports tourism as a strategic economic driver for the country.

Meanwhile the Uganda Communications Commission through the Execuctive Director Nyombi Thembo has vowed to provide highend connectivity of 100 Mbps per second during the event hat will happen in August. All be done to strenghthen live broadcasting, media coverage, and the overall digital experience.

Bernard Cheptoch and Rachel Chebet Zena are the Champions for the 4th Edition of Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon.

It was attended by runners from 35 countries, highlighting how the Marathon is international. Hon. Gladys Boos, the Deputy Speaker of the Kenya National Assembly, blessed the marathon, explaining that the marathon shouldn't be used just for running but be considered as a gem that Uganda currently has. Rwenzururu Kingdom Mourns Deputy Minister in Tragic Attack in DR. Congo

The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Kingdom is mourning the loss of Hon. Anuarite Kavira Kyalima, Deputy Minister of Intercultural Cooperation and External Relations, who was brutally murdered in the Democratic Republic of Congo on Saturday, April 29, 2025. According to reports, Hon. Anuarite was attacked by unknown assailants while returning from a burial ceremony.
