Burial For Ugandan Olympic Runner Cheptegei Announced.

According to information from Late Rebecca Cheptegei's family and Organizers for the burial ceremony indicate that the funeral will be held on September 14 in Kongasis sub-county in Bukwo district.

Rebecca who recently finished 44th at the 2024 Paris Olympics, died in Kenya after being set on fire by her boyfriend,

Donald Rukare, the President for Uganda Olympic Committee and Commonwealth Games Association Uganda regret the incident and however show that Rebecca's legacy will continue to endure.

"May her gentle soul rest in peace and we strongly condemn violence against women. This was a cowardly and senseless act that has led to the loss of a great athlete. Her legacy will continue to endure" Mr. Rukare posted on X

The deceased is identified as Nabasire Sulaina Index Number U0436/200 has been studying at Bwera Secondary School.  She passed away suddenly last night. The student, had sat for two UNEB papers exams just yesterday, was rushed to Bwera Hospital after experiencing terminal agitation but unfortunately died upon arrival.
