Government Cracks Down on Fee-Related Harassment in Schools

In a bold move to safeguard students' education, the Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner in Charge of Busongora County, Zepher Mubingwa has issued a stern warning to school head teachers in Busongora County: cease fee-related harassment or face arrest.

Speaking from his Kasese town office, Mubingwa emphasized the Ministry of Education and Sports' guidelines for interacting with parents and guardians. "Chasing learners for fees is unacceptable," he stated. "Head teachers must prioritize students' well-being and education."

This directive follows complaints received over the past two days regarding some school administrators and head teachers harassing children over fees in government schools.

With the education calendar running for only 82 days (August 16th - December 6th), Mubingwa's stance ensures learners focus on their studies without financial pressure.

"Resignation or early retirement awaits head teachers who fail to uphold educational ethics," Mubingwa asserted, demonstrating the government's commitment to protecting students' rights.

This proactive measure aims to create a conducive learning environment, promoting academic excellence and student well-being in Busongora County.

Ends.
