JOURNALISTS URGED TO COLLABORATE IN COMBATING MPOX IN KASESE DISTRICT

Journalists in Kasese District have been called upon to collaborate with health officials to combat Mpox in the district. Mr. Julius Mutoro, senior Environmental Officer in Kasese District Health Office, made the call during a media engagement about controlling and managing Mpox in the district.

Mr. Mutoro appreciated the media's efforts in establishing stories about Mpox and urged them to always collaborate with leadership to ensure that the disease is controlled and managed. He also advised the public to avoid getting into contact with infected animals like Squirrels, rats, mice, and monkeys.

Mr. Edward Muganga, public Health specialist for the ministry of health, asked journalists to be mindful of their story angling while reporting about Mpox. He urged them to always carry out personal research to ensure that the information they share with the public is accurate and reliable.

"We shouldn't cause public disruption by coordinating and giving necessary information," said Bernard Lubwama, Representative from the Ministry of Health. "As a district, we have established a mobile test lab and we're aiming to manage the spread of Mpox and anthrax. Let's look at each other as partners if we're to control pandemics in the area."
