SECURITY TIGHTENED AS KASESE DISTRICT GEARS UP FOR WORLD TOURISM DAY 2024
"We are thrilled to host World Tourism Day in Kasese district," said Sp. Nelson Tumushime, Rwenzori East police spokesperson. "As police, we are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all visitors and the public at large."
Kasese district is set to host World Tourism Day on September 27, 2024, and the police in Kasese have assured security to both visitors and the public. Speaking to the media, Sp. Nelson Tumushime noted that the police are well-prepared for the day and have been holding several security meetings to plan for the event.
"We urge anyone planning to cause insecurity to stop and focus on peace-building," said Sp. Nelson. "We want to ensure that everyone has a safe and enjoyable experience."
The preparations for World Tourism Day started yesterday with a cleaning exercise in the town, and many activities are still ongoing. Sp. Nelson called upon the public to utilize this day for business and networking opportunities.
"This is a great opportunity for our local businesses to shine and for visitors to experience the beauty of Kasese district," said Sp. Nelson. "We are excited to showcase our tourism potential and promote peace in the region."
President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to officiate over the function, which will take place at Nyakasanga Playground in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality, under the theme "Tourism and Peace".
"We are honored to have President Museveni join us for this special day," said Sp. Nelson. "We are confident that his presence will make the event even more successful."
