Breakthrough in Ibuga Land Dispute: Communities Come Together for Peaceful Resolution - Kasese
In a significant turn of events, the dispute over Ibuga Land in Kasese is taking a positive turn. The Uganda Wildlife Authority, Ministry of Land, and local communities are agreeing to work together to resolve the issue.
"We are thrilled to see the communities coming together to find a peaceful solution," says Mr. Kiiza Luke, Chairperson of Land Eviction Persons. "We are committed to ensuring that the rights of all parties are respected and that the land is used for the benefit of everyone."
The disagreement between cultivators and pastoralists is halting the capturing of coordinates, but thanks to the intervention of Hima Division Police Commander, the process is resuming on Monday.
"We are grateful for the leadership of the Police Commander in helping to resolve this issue," says Grace Biira, one of the evictees. "We are hopeful that this will bring an end to our suffering and that we will finally have a place to call home."
Mr. Nziwa Asasisio, former chairman of the area land Committee, emphasizes the importance of collective effort in achieving peace and unity in the community.
"We must work together to ensure that our communities are united and that we can live in harmony," he says. "This is a significant step forward, and we are excited to see the positive impact it will have."
With the communities working together and the government's commitment to justice, a peaceful resolution to the Ibuga Land dispute is finally in sight.
