Kasese District in Crisis: Poor Parenting on the Rise, Future of Children Hangs in the Balance
"Children are our future, but the lack of parental responsibilities is putting their well-being and safety at risk." - Ruth Tusasirwa, Assistant Commissioner, Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development
The Kasese District is facing a growing concern as poor parenting continues to escalate, leaving the future of its children uncertain. Ruth Tusasirwa, Assistant Commissioner in the Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, has sounded the alarm, urging Community Development Officers (CDOs) to take immediate action to address this critical issue.
"The lack of parental responsibilities has led many youths to engage in harmful activities like sexuality and drug abuse. It's a ticking time bomb, and we must act now to protect our children," Tusasirwa warned.
CDOs have been challenged to use their technical knowledge to educate the public on developments and good parenting. Bagumira Faisal, Kasese District Probation Officer, stressed, "We can't afford to wait; the future of our children is at stake."
Monday Girivazio Bwambale, Kasese District Vice Local Council Five Chairperson, acknowledged, "We are facing a crisis, but we are committed to ending child abuse and fighting against poor parenting. Our children deserve a safe and supportive environment."
The clock is ticking for Kasese District to address this critical issue and ensure a brighter future for its children.
