STUDENT SHINES LIGHT ON RWENZURURU KINGDOM'S CULTURAL HERITAGE
In a heartwarming display of cultural pride, Nasire Gloria Ngabire, a student at Kasese Secondary School, has taken the initiative to share the rich cultural heritage of the Rwenzururu Kingdom with the world.
PRESERVING CULTURAL IDENTITY
According to Nasire, the Omusinga of Rwenzururu has played a vital role in preserving the cultural identity of the Bakonzo people and promoting peace, unity, and reconciliation within the kingdom.
The student highlighted the kingdom's conservation efforts, particularly the protection of chimpanzees and their habitats, as well as the promotion of sustainable agriculture practices such as terracing to ensure that the region's agriculture corresponds to the environmental needs of the land.
RECOGNITION FOR CONSERVATION EFFORTS
The student also mentioned that the Omusinga of Rwenzururu has been recognized by the President of the Republic of Uganda, Yoweri Museveni, for his efforts in promoting cultural heritage and conservation.
The kingdom celebrates its coronation ceremony every October 19th, and Nasire expressed pride in their cultural heritage and appreciation for the efforts of the Omusinga and the kingdom in preserving it.
OMUSINGA'S MESSAGE TO THE YOUTH
Omusinga King Wisely Mumbere Iremangoma of Rwenzururu has a message for the youth: "Education is key to development, and I urge all students to take their studies seriously. I also thank the government and different institutions for providing scholarships and bursaries to our subjects to enable them to access education in the country. However, I warn the youth against being misled by violent people. Most youths are misled by people with unpeaceful interests, and I urge you all to be careful and focus on your studies." From the start of this year the Obusinga has received 1078 Scholarships and bursaries from different learning centres
A CALL TO ACTION
Nasire's initiative showcases the importance of cultural heritage and conservation and serves as an inspiration to others to learn about and appreciate their own cultural roots. By sharing this information, Nasire has demonstrated a sense of pride and ownership in their cultural heritage and has helped raise awareness about the significance of the Rwenzururu Kingdom's conservation efforts.
