LINK BUS INVOLVED IN FATAL CRASH IN KASESE: DRIVER CAUTIONED TO FOLLOW TRAFFIC RULES

Kasese, Uganda - A Link Bus with registration number UBR 626Z was involved in a fatal accident in Hima Division, Kasese District, on January 29, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m.

"We received a report of a fatal accident involving a Link Bus and a tricycle. Unfortunately, one passenger lost their life," said Nelson Tumushime, Police Spokesperson for Rwenzori East.

According to eyewitnesses, the tricycle was overloaded with maize and had no headlights, making it difficult for the bus driver to see it.

"The bus struck the tricycle from behind, resulting in one fatality. We urge drivers to exercise caution and follow traffic rules to prevent such incidents," Tumushime added.

The injured victims were taken to hospitals in Hima and Kasese for medical attention.

As schools reopen, Tumushime cautioned drivers to be vigilant and adhere to traffic regulations. "We will not hesitate to arrest and prosecute drivers who disregard traffic rules," he warned.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident.
