Karuguuza United FC Faces Disciplinary Action From Kitara Region Football Association After Match Abandonment

The Kitara Region Football Association (KRFA) has issued an official letter to Karuguuza United FC, summoning the team to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.

The letter follows a disturbing incident during the regional play-off match against Rwenzori Lions FC at Hiima grounds on June 14, 2025.

According to the match official's report, Karuguuza United FC's head coach, officials, and substitute players invaded the field of play at the 39th minute, protesting a penalty kick awarded against their team. The situation escalated when the head coach allegedly attacked and threatened to beat the referee, causing the match to be abandoned.

The KRFA has invoked Article 43(3) and (9)(b) of the FCR rules, which stipulate sanctions for misconduct and hooliganism. Karuguuza United FC has been given a deadline of June 16, 2025, at 2:00 pm to respond to the allegations. Failure to do so will result in the Regional Competitions Committee determining the matter based on available information.

The outcome of this disciplinary action will have significant implications for Karuguuza United FC's participation in the league.
