The Fourth Edition of Rwenzori Theluji Festival will Focus on Boosting Business Opportunities and Enhancing Livelihoods

Kasese, Uganda - The Rwenzori Theluji Festival was on 23rd July 2025 launched in Kasese, Uganda, with the aim of promoting tourism, trade, and investment in the region. Speaking at the launch, Mbogha Johnson, Vice Chairperson of the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum (KTIF) Board and National Chairperson of the festival, emphasized that the event is designed to boost business opportunities through its Tourism, Trade, and Investment summit.

The festival aims to enhance the livelihoods of people in the Rwenzori Region while showcasing and celebrating their rich cultural heritage. Johnson also highlighted the festival's provision for tree planting to conserve the environment.

Bwahana Vincent, a consultant at Rwenzori Auto Spa and Hospitality Business Solutions, urged locals to own Kasese's tourism industry and work together to promote and discover new attractions, including churches and schools.

The Rwenzori International Hotel has confirmed its readiness to host visitors participating in the festival, with new facilities introduced to enable the smooth running of services. Baluku Silivano, Manager of the hotel and Chairperson of the Kasese Hotel Owners and Managers Association, encouraged hotel owners to create attractive packages to entice visitors to extend their stay, thereby boosting local tourism and the economy.

Mugisa Kihire William, Secretary General of the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum, stated that the festival aims to promote Uganda, particularly the Rwenzori region. Mupango Rabson, Deputy Mayor of Kasese Municipality, emphasized the importance of maintaining the town's cleanliness and cooperating with stakeholders to enhance tourism.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Miss Tourism Rwenzori, her second runners-up, and Mr. Tourism Rwenzori Region, who encouraged public involvement in various activities. Stephen Gonzaga, youth representative on the Kasese Tourism Investors Forum board, commended the cleaning initiative and urged the Kasese municipal authorities to ensure the town remains clean.

The Rwenzori Theluji Festival promises to be a major event in promoting tourism and economic growth in the region.
