Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon Launches Global Campaign For the 5th Edition Happening on 22nd August 2026

The Tusker Lite Mt. Rwenzori Marathon, set for August 22, 2026, is gearing up for a major international push, with its 2026 marketing campaign launching in Nairobi, Kenya, the week of September 26, 2025, announced Amos Wekesa, Team Leader of Tusker Lite Rwenzori Marathon 

Targeting the international running community that plans a year in advance, the campaign aims to position Uganda’s premier marathon on the global stage. “An international marathon needs a blend of international and local marketing strategies,” Wekesa emphasized.

 “Uganda is competing with neighbors sporting Arsenal T-shirts; we can’t just talk to ourselves.” The local marketing focus will intensify in May and June 2026, while efforts now also support the Gulu City Marathon, set for December 6, 2025.

Wekesa stressed the need for monumental effort: “For Uganda to compete with our neighbors, we need 1,000 times the work, like that of the Rwenzori Marathon. We must be in global markets, shouting and pushing a Ugandan agenda, then return to inspire our communities.”

The marathon, renowned for its scenic route across the Equator with the Rwenzori Mountains as a backdrop, aims to draw thousands from around the world.

It was attended by runners from 35 countries, highlighting how the Marathon is international. Hon. Gladys Boos, the Deputy Speaker of the Kenya National Assembly, blessed the marathon, explaining that the marathon shouldn't be used just for running but be considered as a gem that Uganda currently has. The Ministry of Tourism, Animal, and Antiquities, Hon. Martin Mugarra, explained that the marathon has led to infrastructure development in areas like roads. Hon. Kasese Catholic Diocese Permitted to Run Mt. St. Mary’s College of Health Sciences.

Government of Uganda through the Ministry of Health has accredited Kasese Catholic Diocese to run Mt. St. Mary’s College of Health Sciences in a move to improve healthcare in the country. The institution that will run under Mt. St. Mary’s Hospital is meant to produce health workers who are God fearing and dedicated to their services. Mr. Joseph Kule Nzukwa, the Chairperson for the Governing Council for the institution explain that the government positively responded to their application for running a college at the diocesan headquarters.
